Teaching piano and keyboards has been Nigel's vocation for nearly forty years since leaving the music retail industry.
He holds a London College of Music diploma in Piano Performance and a Certificate of Teaching with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. He is a professional member of The European Piano Teachers Association and adheres to the "EPTA" code of practice.

Teaching activities include running his private teaching practice and visiting schools on a peripatetic basis, teaching children and young people from beginners to grade 8. Formerly was on the Birmingham Music Service register of sessional music teachers. 2014 sat on the ABRSM focus group - "Exploring Digital Music".
Performance experience includes playing trombone with the Central England Concert Band. Working as an accompanist for soloists and examinations. Past experience includes playing organ and piano for church services, playing professionally in hotels, restaurants, private functions and accompanying ballroom dancing. 1984 - 1997.
In 2018, Nigel started a piano and trombone duo, “Sax Bone & Keys”, available for light background music with an easy jazz feel to your social event.
Nigel's wife, Liz, is a registered childminder. They have four grown up children and two grandchildren.
Special interests include free improvisation and the therapeutic effects of playing the piano.
